WINE TASTING ROOMS
The wine tastings are held in the evocative "Tinaia" and "Granaio Alto" function rooms.
TINAIA
This room was used in the past for storing the wine in the fermentation vats once it had been pressed. Today this room is used to accommodate meetings and wine tastings.
It is a large room which looks onto the courtyard in front of the villa with decorative stonework on the walls. This characteristic of Valpolicella constructions gives great solidity and insulation to buildings. The floor is covered in symmetrical pink and white stone slabs made from the famous Prun stone which for centuries has been mined in quarries on the higher reaches of the Negrar village. This stone was used in the construction of monuments and small buildings in the area.
This is a perfect setting to enjoy Villa Spinosa’s wines.
GRANAIO ALTO
This room has been made from the upper level of the barn where the grapes for Recioto and Amarone wines were dried on “arele”, the traditional wooden fruit drying racks.
Today this is the largest function room at Villa Spinosa. It’s a large loft area with floor-to-ceiling windows which give amazing views over the garden.
The wooden beams are supported by tuff stone pillars, like other parts of the winery. The wooden floorboards are a reminder of what was traditionally used to cover the granaries and hay-lofts of the Valpolicella.
